When I switched from spinning to baitcasters, I wanted a left-hand-retrieve baitcasting reel. It made more sense to me to retrieve with my left hand and set the hook with my power hand (right), like I'd been doing with spinning gear. In the early '80s, Abu Garcia was one of the few companies to offer baitcasting reels in left-hand retrieve. I'm glad they did. Since then it's been my reel of choice.
