I purchased this reel from a Howard Brothers Discount Store in Opelika, Ala. I was 14 years old and a new member of B.A.S.S. This was my third Garcia reel. My other two reels were a 5000C and a 5500C.

I put my 5000D on a heavy-action, 5 1/2-foot pistol-grip Lew's Speed Stick. I used my 5000D with 20-pound-test Stren.

This reel-and-rod combo was my "worming" rig. I really enjoyed the reel not having a drag. It was a cool rig.
