Survey any group of anglers and you'll generally find that there are really only two opinions when it comes to braided line: love it or hate it.
Braided line takes a lot of getting used to, and usually the main difference between the 'love it' and 'hate it' crowds is that the folks who can't stand to fish with superlines gave up on it too soon.
You've probably heard one of your fishing buddies say something like: "I tried braided line once, but I got backlashes with it so I went back to mono." The truth is, most people have to go through a bit of a learning curve when they make the switch to superline, but many anglers call it quits and trash the stuff after just one trip.
And then there's the cost factor. When you add up the frustration of learning to fish with an unforgiving, no-stretch line and the fact that braid often costs at least double what you can pick up a spool of mono for, it's no wonder that some anglers are unwilling to load their reels with braided line, no matter how 'super' it is.
Superline shunners, fear no more. The folks at Spiderwire have cooked up a new braided creation designed specifically with cost and ease-of-use in mind.
Making it EZ
New for the 2008-2009 season is Spiderwire EZ Braid. If you've given up on superlines, now's the time to give them a second chance.
EZ Braid is built with the same remarkable strength and smoothness that all Spiderwire lines are known for, and is constructed of Dyneema® microfibers that are three times stronger than monofilament lines. What that equates to is a braided line that lays down smoothly on the spool for decreased backlashes, and cinches down snugly with a Palomar knot for worry-free fishing.
“If you aren’t using braided line for your heavy tackle presentations, you really are putting yourself at a disadvantage,” said Bassmaster Elite Series pro and Berkley pro-staffer Kelley Jordon. “Spiderwire EZ Braid is easy to handle, smooth to cast and super strong. It has almost no stretch and is super sensitive, so when you feel even the subtlest strike, you can deliver a powerful hook set and have plenty of strength to drag the big ones back to the boat.”
But that's not the best part. You won't see any super-high price tags on this superline. You can pick up a 110-yard spool of EZ Braid for just $9.95, and the 300-yard spool is an even better value at a measly $18.95.
EZ Braid is coated with an all-purpose moss green finish and comes in five popular pound-test selections including: 10/3, 15/4, 20/6, 30/8, and 50/12.
So if you're one of those anglers who tried braid a long time ago and swore that you'd never spool up with another superline again, give Spiderwire EZ braid a look and experience for yourself how far braided line technology has advanced. You could be in for a pleasant surprise.

> Where many anglers make a mistake on choosing superlines is that they opt for the same pound test that they use with mono, which results in spooling up with a line that's much thinner than what they're used to. Instead, try purchasing the pound test based on the mono diameter equivalent. For example, if you're used to fishing with 12-pound mono, buy the 50/12 braid. That's 50-pound test strength, with a 12-pound diameter.
